DJAME Welcomes Back its Alumni to their Alma Mater

The Institute welcomed back its alumni to their alma mater on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Alumni Meet arranged at the DJAME campus. Despite the short notice, the response from alumni was encouraging, with the participant profile ranging from alumni who had graduated in 2005 to those who graduated only last year. Many of those who attended had flown in from outside Coimbatore, taking a day off from their working schedule to be present at the reunion.

The meet, which was presided over by Dr. Lalitha Devi Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Secretary DJAME and Trustee GKD Charity Trust, began with a prayer song after which Prof. N. Prem Anand welcomed the gathering. In her address, the Secretary provided a “big picture” about DJAME as it is today. Prof. Venugopal, Director, provided details of the efforts being undertaken on multiple fronts to take DJAME to its next level of excellence. He called upon the alumni to contribute to the success of these efforts.

Several Alumni addressed those present. Their speeches highlighted the role that DJAME had played in making
them what they are today; exhorted current students to work hard and with confidence; and assured the Institue of all possible help. Some speakers also highlighted some shortcomings that the Institute would have to rectify.

The current students presented a video that had been conceptualised and created by Mr. Afzal, MBA II Year and that brought together a number of photographs in an interesting collage. The meeting ended with a vote-of-thanks by Prof. Johnsi, Coordinator, Alumni Affairs.

The day was also a day for informal networking: current students, faculty members, administrative staff on the one hand and the Alumni on the other mingled freely before and after the formal session and over lunch. Several areas of co-operation were identified,as well as some lacunae pointed out. The Institue looks forward to taking the initiative forward.
